Progressive Web Apps (PWA) & Artificial Intelligence (AI) for SMEs
With Progressive Web Apps (PWA), AppStore commissions of up to 30 % of sales can be avoided. Furthermore, there is no need to develop different versions for different operating systems. PWAs are also cheaper to develop than "classic" apps.
Artificial intelligence such as ChatGPT has enormous potential. But how can corresponding applications be used sensibly in medium-sized companies and what steps are required for this?
In this compact event, the speakers will use practical examples to show how PWA and AI can be introduced in SMEs - from both a technical and legal perspective.
Progressive Web App (PWA)
A progressive web app (PWA) is a type of advanced website that can be accessed via an icon on a smartphone or tablet computer like a normal app. A PWA also works offline, has local storage and can, for example, display a notification - just like a normal app.
At the same time, the app does not need to be installed via the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, but can be installed as part of a visit to the company website. This has a number of advantages. In particular, PWA avoids the need to develop and maintain apps for different operating systems, which can be time-consuming or require tools. Commissions of up to 30%, which are incurred when selling apps via the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, can also be avoided. The PWA will be presented technically and legally in the lecture.
Artificial intelligence (AI)
Modern applications of artificial intelligence with language models such as ChatGPT are fascinating. But sometimes this technology still seems "unapproachable". How can such technology be introduced in a medium-sized company and which fields of application are desirable? This will be demonstrated using a practical example and the technical steps required for implementation and preparation will be discussed in detail. However, technology alone is not enough, as the legal admissibility concerns surrounding ChatGPT show.
The presentation will therefore also highlight the various legal requirements and how these can be complied with. It will not only address the current and future legal situation in accordance with the upcoming EU regulation for AI.
