Consumer Dispute Resolution Act is coming

The Federal Cabinet has agreed on a draft Consumer Dispute Resolution Act (VSBG-RegE), which is intended to implement an EU directive.

The aim of the directive and the draft law is to enable disputes between traders and consumers to be settled out of court via private and official consumer arbitration boards. Due to the upcoming involvement of the Bundestag and Bundesrat, changes are likely to be made, which is why we are not presenting the details for the time being. Among other things, however, a new obligation to inform consumers is planned: entrepreneurs who operate a website or use general terms and conditions must refer to the arbitration option and body.
