Amendment of the EU Trademark Regulation
The Community trademark is now called the European Union trademark. The trade mark office is now called EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) instead of OHIM. In addition to the name changes, numerous detailed changes have been made due to the new EU Trade Mark Regulation.
One significant change concerns the list of goods and services. Previously, class headings or class headings could be used to cover an entire category of goods or services. This will no longer be possible in future. In future, each product or service to be registered must be named individually. This rule also applies to goods that have already been registered. Under certain circumstances, goods and services can be subsequently registered. However, this is only possible until 24.09.2016. Trade mark owners should check within the deadline whether a subsequent registration is possible for their trade mark.
