Extended data protection warning powers of associations
The Injunctions Act has been amended.
Consumer protection associations can now issue warnings against breaches of data protection law for a fee as part of their right to bring an association action. Independently of this, the courts are increasingly taking the view that competitors may also take action against breaches of data protection law. It is therefore to be expected that data protection infringements will be the subject of significantly more warnings in future.
