CyberBrunch 2022 As part of the "CyberBrunch" face-to-face event, we will discuss current issues in the field of cyber security, in particular threat scenarios, liability risks and insurance options, with speakers from the respective specialist areas over "food and drink".
About the event
The so-called "boss scam" is unfortunately a very successful method - also here in the region. An attacker pretends to be the "boss" in the accounts department, possibly by stealing a known e-mail address of the boss. The supposed boss then expresses confidence in the person in the accounts department and involves them in a top-secret project: another company is to be taken over. This currently requires a partial payment, which should be arranged in the strictest confidence. The boss only trusts a few...
Other attacks on companies are much more subtle, e.g. the increasingly popular "supply chain attack". In this case, it is not the actual company that is "hacked", but the software of a supplier, which is then installed in the company itself with the next regular update - along with the malware.
The following attack is simpler and more targeted: an attacker places a supposed USB stick near your company. Experience shows that there is often an employee who is curious enough to connect the supposed USB stick to the company computer. However, the supposed USB stick is manipulated, pretends to be a USB keyboard and immediately triggers a stored key sequence - usually so quickly that it is not even noticed.
There are many more such constellations. Significant economic damage is regularly caused by downtime and "clean-up work".
In addition, all of the company's customers may have to be informed about the cyber attack, which in turn can lead to damage to the company's image. In addition, the question of liability arises: is a service provider liable, does the insurance pay or does the management even incur personal liability due to organizational fault?
The speakers will address these and other questions in concise presentations.
